THE MUSIC SIDE

THE ASSEMBLERS are Bruce Golden (drums, bells, toys, vocals) and Steve Smith (guitar, keyboard, vocals).  We've been playing our original high-energy progressive pop/rock/improv in Jackson and New Orleans' finer musical venues since 1996.  Visit us on MySpace for free tracks and at cdbaby.com to pick up our Hep-Tone CDs. REAL LIFE, THE IDEA (see below) contains some additional Assemblers recordings.  Our second CD, THE OTHER RIGHT PLACE, features wonderful guitar work by Davey Williams, Owen Evans (now putting out his own stuff as Owen Beverly), and Randy Everett, with production by Randy.  Click here for song lyrics for that album. If you know who to ask you can get an official bootleg of live performances at Fenian's from the summer of 2003, featuring guitarist Chris Alford.

REAL LIFE, THE IDEA is a Small College Musical by Steve Smith produced as a CD soundtrack (available from Hep-Tone) featuring the vocal talents of Smith, Nicole Saad (later Bradshaw), Stephanie Burks, Nehemiah Luckett, Shane Atkinson, Lelon Thompson, Kathryn Rodenmeyer, Wyatt Waters, Beverly Branson, and David Womack.  Let us know if you'd like to see the MPB MISSISSIPPI ROADS segment on the making of REAL LIFE, THE IDEA, produced by Ron Rodenmeyer, first aired on December 21, 2000.  Click here for REAL LIFE song lyrics .

WOODPECKER STREET is the rubric for Steve Smith projects made entirely at home on The Street. The first album came out in 2001 on the Hep-Tone label; a second, BOLD NEW CITY, was released in October 2006; and a third, NEED, DESIRE & DELIGHT, came out in September 2008. Listen to Woodpecker Street on MySpace, purchase at cdbaby.com, or get more info (lyrics and notes on the tracks) here.
