Sandra Murchison is an Associate Professor and Chair of the
Art Department at Millsaps College, where she teaches printmaking,
painting, drawing and book arts. Sandra has shown her work in over
40 national and
international juried exhibitions, and has received a Merit Award
for one of her shaped etchings in the Americas 2008: All Media exhibition
held
at Minot State University. She has had solo exhibitions at such places
as Rockhurst University in Kansas City and the Cottonlandia Museum
in Mississippi. This coming year, she will have solo exhibitions
showcasing her series
about the Delta Blues at Delta state University, Loyola University
and Fischer galleries. Sandra has been a visiting artist in the printmaking
departments of the Univ. of Louisiana at Lafayette, UTK, LSU, and
UW at
Madison and the Southwest School of Art & Craft. This academic year,
she will be a Visiting Artist at Lawrence University and Appalachian
University. This November, Sandra will be one of the “master printers” during
the MONOTHON at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk,
CT. She serves as the SGC International Archives Liaison and was
the 2007 SGC
International Exchange Portfolio Coordinator in KC. In addition,
Sandra curated two exchange portfolios and traveling exhibitions
entitled "Red
Herring" for the 2007 SGC conference, which is now in the permanent
collection of the Center for Book Arts in NYC and "White Elephant"
which was shown at
Anchor Graphics in Chicago. Sandra has taught print and book arts
workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and at the Southwest
School of
Art and Craft. Sandra contributes to the printmaking blog www.pressplayprint.com.
She is represented by Fischer Galleries in Jackson, Mississippi.
