Biochemistry Laboratory Experiments  

    1.) Analysis of Protein Structure on the Protein Data Bank (PDB)

    2.) Determination of  L-ascorbic acid in vegetable and fruit extracts. Volumetric titration of fruit or vegetable extracts with Tillman's reagent (DCPIP). Absorbance of DCPIP.

         Determination of additional reducing agents by decomposition of ascorbic acid with ascorbate oxidase. Analysis of light and heat stability of ascorbic acid.                                         

    3.) Sequence analysis of unknown peptides. Paper chromatography of amino acids. Sanger N-terminal analysis. Isolation and paper chromatography of DNP-amino acids.

    4.) Kinetics of tyrosinase, inhibition with different chemicals, linear plots, determination of inhibition type

    5.) Isolation and analysis of bacterial DNA
