THE ANCIENT MEDITERRANEAN
Site Stars Comment
Diogenes' Links ** idiosyncratic; incomplete; but better than mine
Diotima: Women and Gender in the Ancient World **** outstanding; user-friendly; L, G, E texts from Ross Scaife (UKY)and our own (ACS's) Suzanne Bonefas
MIT: Internet Classics Archive **** 400 classical works on line; easy-to-use Search machine
VRoma Links **** many useful links to technology and pedagogy, e.g., Wheelock Study Guide; an ACS site (by Ross Scaife?) funded by the NEH
Perseus Project ***** by Greg Crane at Tufts, the first, the best, mainly Greek data base, but with a"Roman Perseus" in the works
UVM: Ovid Project *** Vermont's rare book collection offers art and images from illustrated works based on Ovid's legends
Roman Perseus *** not fully operational, but worth visiting for its imaginative use of frames, e.g., Merrill's Catullus is fully annotated line by line
About Argos **** the first peer-reviewed LASE (limited area search engine) of the Ancient and Medieval Internet, from UEvansville; again, with Ross's and Suzanne's fingerprints along with Greg Crane's of Perseus (among others')
Bellum Catalinae Links *** unique, mysterious, often funny, and definitely useful site by the anonymous Cataline, who keeps things hi-tech but low-image for faster and easier loading; "Free Research Materials". (Who IS this guy?)
