Prerequisites:

Students enrolled in Acctg 4020 must have successfully completed Acctg 3010, Intermediate Financial Accounting II prior to beginning this course. If you have not completed these prerequisites, you must drop this course. You should see your advisor immediately. In the event that you do not voluntarily drop this course, you will be administratively dropped.

Academic Dishonesty:

You are expected to adhere to the Honor Code. As a result, you should ensure that you understand what is considered a violation of the honor code on each assignment. For example, I expect you to collaborate on group assignments; however, I do not expect you to collaborate on examinations.

Grading:

Letter grades for the course will be assigned based on the percentage of points you accumulate during the course, based on the following possible points earned.

Examinations:

There will be two examinations and one final during the semester. Examinations will consist of multiple choice questions and problems. They may cover all material assigned, whether explicitly covered in class. Examinations must be taken at the time and place announced unless other acceptable arrangements are made in advance with me.

Note: The final examination is scheduled for Thursday, December 8 at 2:00.

Multiple Choice Questions:

There are multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter of this textbook. As we cover each chapter, you should (individually) complete all of the assigned multiple choice questions.

Participation:

You are responsible for attending class, having read the assignments, having prepared your initial responses to the assigned homework and being ready to ask any questions related to the assignment. Class participation points can be earned in this class in two ways: (1) by speaking up in the class - making thoughtful comments or asking thoughtful questions (up to 75% of your participation credit may be earned this way), and (2) by sharing with the class interesting and relevant current events, statistics, cases, etc, (up to 25% of your participation credit may be earned this way. We will allow 5-10 minutes at the beginning of each class for this sharing of related current events that you have found on the Internet, in the Wall Street Journal, at your work, or from other sources.

Please note that when evaluating your level of participation in the class, I will consider not only whether you were there, but also whether your comments demonstrate initiative, provide evidence of preparation for class, and show some technical understanding.
