During the semester, you will complete a group project involving accounting information systems and a local company. Each team will prepare a comprehensive written report on its study and deliver an oral presentation to the members of the company and the class. The entire project is due no later than April 20, 1999; however, certain phases of the project must be completed in the interim. All interim due dates are noted in the accompanying schedule.
At the interim dates, I am merely interested in ascertaining whether you have completed the work to date. As a result, I will merely perform a cursory review of your work. At these interim dates, no points will be allocated to neatness, presentation, etc. You will need to track the time you spend working on this project. I have weekly timesheets available on which you'll summarize your travel time, client contact time, time spent individually working or reading up for the project and the time spent working in groups with me on the project. These timesheets will need to be turned in at each interim phase.
When the project is completed, the written report should be typed and double-spaced. All flowcharts, tables, analyses and exhibits should be prepared on the computer. Your presentation should use PowerPoint, with appropriate handouts for your classmates.
Using electronic peer-evaluation forms, each member of the group will have the opportunity throughout the semester to provide objective information to me regarding the contribution of the other members of his/her group. Specifically, you will be evaluated based on your effort, cooperation with others, initiative, technical knowledge/expertise and overall contribution.
These peer evaluation forms will directly affect the grade which you receive for the group project. In fact, 20% of your group project grade will be determined by your peer evaluation. To that end, I expect the peer evaluation process to be given serious consideration.
