Teaching

Summer 2009 Old Stones Painted Anew: Recreate a Mayan Village Yucatan, Mexico

Courses I've taught include Computer Graphics, Artificial Intelligence (with emphasis on video games), and Computer Science I and II.

I also teach Digital Media Programming that combines hands-on use of graphics software such as PhotoShop with writing our own code to create similar graphics and animation effects.

Research

My general research interests are in computer graphics, animation, and artificial intelligence. My current research seeks to develop automated software to place cameras in virtual 3D worlds. Applications include computer-generated cinematography, training software with animated explanations, and 3D computer games.

I welcome the participation of undergraduates who are interested in projects in computer graphics, computer animation, cinematography, game design, programming, or development, and related fields that combine the arts and computing technology.

Advanced Computing Lab

I help maintain our departmental lab which features 64-bit AMD Opteron graphics workstations, 17" LCDs, graphics development software, and a sampling of game software for creative inspiration.

Service

I am chairperson of the Millsaps Academic Computing Committee and a member of the Faculty Council.

Professional Experiences and Degrees

My professional background spans academics and industry and is highlighted by my graduate studies at North Carolina State University and a work at an internet startup company in North Carolina's Research Triangle.
